Everyone is well aware of the fact that GATE exam is the gateway for PSU's and Post Graduate studies. I was a student of NIT Kurukshetra and placements here are good.I live in Ambala and it is 42 KM from my college so basically every weekend I used to go home and chill. Time passed by and I was engulfed with boredom.In the 6th semester ,suddenly my balcony mate (Here 2 people share a same balcony),whom I have always looked upto, started going for coaching for GATE in CHANDIGARH. Now , I started feeling that I have not done anything in my college life and I have wasted my college lie without doing anything new. That realisation struck me so hard that the on next weekend , I have made up my mind and I started going coaching too without realising that I was one of the best decision of my life.
10 Feb 2016 was the first day of my coaching and it was tiring but I felt satisfied. From Monday to Friday I used to attend colleges ,completed assignments ,practical files etc. and on Saturday and Sunday I attended coaching classes.It was a Hectic schedule and I was always tired. Time passed by and soon I was a student of FINAL YEAR. I never knew , what is the pressure of having no job in hand and still preparing for the exam in which rank above 250 is almost nothing if you want a decent job. I skipped all the companies including Maruti (one of the best)whose recruitment procedure clashed with my coaching. It was a tough decision ! and I dont know why I took it .Everyone started to see me with a different eye. Even after that I was never placed in any company from college as they dont want good technical knowledge, all that is needed to get a good college placement is good speaking skills and a little basics of every subject rather than mastery in a few most important subjects. I was out in almost all companies which included Group discussion in their placement procedure (for the fact I cleared the most difficult gd of BPCL easily) The problem here is that ,the judging panel is not good, during Group discussions , friends become foes and start interfering in between the talks,interrupting everyone just to show their presence and believe me , in college placements , These people get selected !
Now college project also got added to my worries. It was the most difficult time in my life as Everything was Important but time was very less.I used to wake up at 5 and read my for formula notebook. While every friend was enjoying their college life, I WAS STUDYING ! . I pained me alot but believe me ,everything is balanced now , after getting AIR 16 in 2017 Mechanical , all those hardships have now become a success story that I cherish on.
Even on the day of GATE exam , I was not having any job and now I believe it was a blessing in disguise by god which always kept me motivated to study.There is alot more to share about preparation strategy and interviews and I will be sharing it on this blog soon. Stay Tuned !
