BPCL Selection Process Experience

DAY 1

BPCL calls upto 1000 Rank and on the first day , There is a mass Elimination GD . There were 14 students in every GD and out of that 4-5 students were selected . Actually I Cleared it.  Common topics :- 

1. Case study: You are newly recruited in a company and you are working on a project with a group of 4 students including you. Your project was successful and everyone appreciated your group. At the beginning of few projects everyone in your group contributed equally but after few days you found that two of your group members lost interest in projects and didn't contribute for it. But on the other hand your projects are achieving success. One of those who aren't contributing to the project is a son of managing director of the same company in which you are working. The other one is just a normal middle class guy. How will you try to solve this situation.
2. There is a company and you are a higher management official. You need to procure some materials from a vendor. You have finalised two vendors for the job (A and B). Both the vendors are willing to supply you the material at same rate with same quality. Both are offering similar services. Vendor A has offered you that he will get your child admitted in one of the reputed school which you have been trying for a long time. Now as a company employee which of the vendor will you choose?
3.  MY - X person is working as manager in company.There is overtime done by employees to save their job for which they are not get paid.But they are happy with it because they want to save their job.What will u do and y?
4. And Many others(You will find them in groups)

After that There is a Technical Interview :

1. Last upto 10,15 or 20 mins.Depends.10 mins is average.

2. Fluid mechanics and machinery is compulsory topic you have to study that specifically PUMPS.Pump types,their application,pump characteristics,NPSH, cavitation,basic working principle. Have a basic idea about pump used regularly in home i.e their head and discharge.They dont ask formulas.They dont ask DEEP QUESTIONS also.They just want basic info from you.

3.Almost to most of people they ask their favourite subjects.Prepare 3 subjects strong.They don't ask anything else from your favorite subjects plus FM.

4.They ask very basic questions.e.g if u say ur fav subject is THERMO(which was told by 90% of all people in our group) then questions like

• How many laws of thermodynamics are there and what are they? ( I m answering this because most of people dont know.
• what is difference between HT and THERMO.
• What us Rankine cycle and where it is used?
• How power plant works?
• What are power plant accessories and how they are used?
• Similar basic questions with other subject also.

5. Ur FINAL YEAR PROJECT and SUMMER(INDUSTRIAL) TRAINING is VERY VERY IMPORTANT.(My 80% Interview was based on that).So prepare that THOROUGHLY.

DAY 2

And After that There is a HR round where you would be asked general questions about you,your family and company and after that - MEDICAL would be there
